Rashaad Reynolds Mystery

I am no where near objective in this, obviously, but the fact that Reynolds didn’t get drafted is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.  I find it hard to believe that there are 35 corners in college football that are better than Reynolds.  I find it hard to believe that a guy that tied for the third most interceptions in the country, who shut down draft picks like Richardson and Evans and who was not only a great cover corner, but also a great special teams player.

According to one scout, Rashaad Reynolds was too slow and too small for the team he covers, even though he weighs more than five of their current defensive backs, is as tall or taller than four of them and has a forty time and cone drill time as good or better than half of them.

Or maybe he 17 players drafted that were the same size as him or the 27 players that graded worse than he did at the combine, and ran a 40 yard dash faster than eight players drafted.  In fact, that team I mentioned above?  They drafted a corner in the fourth round that was .02 faster in the 40, yet is the exact same size, with smaller wing span and smaller hands.

In fact, he scored SIGNIFICANTLY worse in all of his combine scores than Rashaad did. Oh, and he played in the WAC and had less interceptions in his career than Rashaad had in his junior or senior years.

So no, i don’t understand. I don’t know what the heck is going on with the draft, and I know that there are a ton of stories like Reynolds, but in my mind, Rashaad now has to work harder, try harder and be luckier than about 20 people that are not as good at football as he is nor have as much of an upside as he does, because they got drafted.

Good luck number 16, you were a joy to watch and an absolute beast on and off the field.  I know you are up to the challenge. I just think it is total garbage that you have to.

Let us know why you think we are a bunch of crap sacks... or if you love us. Or just want to say hi.
